One of the largest police services in Ontario, with more than 1,000 members (70 per cent sworn and 30 per cent civilian), serves a community of more than 600,000 residents.<\/p>\n

The challenge<\/h3>
Faced with increasing demand for policing services, the customer needed to ramp up hiring while maintaining the highest quality of recruits . The organization launched a strategy for replacing retiring officers and set a target to hire an additional 47 officers. New recruits needed to be resilient and ready to cope with the challenging demands of policing. At the same time, demand for psychological services for existing members was increasing beyond their existing capacity.<\/div>

The solution<\/h3>
Fraser Health Authority selected Microsoft BizTalk Server as their integration  engine platform. FHA also turned to the Corolar platform to deliver easy- to-use, end-to-end functionality to simplify HL7 interface development, accelerate solution implementation, and manage the integration environment for their complex healthcare integration projects.<\/p>\n

BizTalk Server is an industry leader in enterprise integration used by 90 per cent of the Fortune Global 100 companies around the world.<\/p>\n

The BizTalk\/Corolar solution leverages Microsoft Server stack and .NET technologies to provide a development and user experience familiar to most healthcare organizations. This means software solutions can be developed using the same development language, making integration easier and reducing the need for specialized development resources. In addition, Corolar provides the power to easily create system interfaces with a significant reduction in development time by leveraging and extending the underlying BizTalk Server engine with a comprehensive suite of tools specifically designed to simplify and accelerate HL7 integration solutions.<\/div>

The Result<\/h3>
By partnering with the Calian Psychological Services team, the customer was able to exceed its hiring targets and foster a workplace culture that highlights health and wellness.<\/p>\n

Not only was the customer able to find high-quality candidates able to thrive in a policing environment, it substantially expedited the number of recruits processed per month. \u201cWe had to hire 25 recruits for the upcoming class, which is one of the largest cohorts in our history,\u201d says the recruiting sergeant. \u201cWith Calian, we met our target and more than doubled the number of recruits we were previously able to process.\u201d<\/p>\n

By offering a seamless recruit evaluation process, a wellness check-in program, and ready access to mental health services for its members, the police service is developing a workplace culture essential for a resilient, healthy law enforcement community.<\/div>
